FINEST OFFSHORE SERIES 2022

In 2018 Finnish and Estonian ORC sailors decided to compete together on both sides of the Gulf of Finland. Three events both in 2018 and 2019 were sailed as part of the  FINEST OFFSHORE SERIES. Due to the Covid-19 impact and travel restrictions 2020 and 2021 didn’t favour organizing this joint series. See the websites of the past years at the bottom of the page.

NOTICE OF RACE

Each event will publish its own Notice of Race.

1. ORGANIZING AUTHORITIES & EVENTS
   1. All the events described below are organized by the following locations with their organizing authorities in
      conjunction with the Finnish Offshore Racing Association (Avomeripurjehtijat) and Estonian Yachting UNION (EYU)
      1. E4 Race, KJK, Tallinn, 14.-15.5.2022
      2. WB-Sails Round the Buoys, HSK, Helsinki, 28.-29.5.
      3. Baltic Offshore Week, KJK, Tallinn, 17.-19.6.2022
      4. Harken Race & EKE Challenge, HSK, Helsinki, 27.-28.8.
      5. Tallinn Championships, KJK, 3.-4.9.2022
2. RULES
   1. The regattas will be governed by the rules as defined in The Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS) for 2021-2024 of the World Sailing.
   2. All other rules applying will be defined with each event’s Notice of Race.
3. ADVERTISING
   1. Boats may be required to display advertising chosen and supplied by the organizing authority.
4. ELIGIBILITY
   1. The regattas are open to all boats with a valid ORC measurement certificate.
   2. All sails must be measured.
5. ENTRY
   1. Eligible boats will register for each event, using the system described in that event’s NOR.
6. GROUPS, FEES, SCHEDULE, MEASUREMENTS, SAILING INSTRUCTIONS, VENUE, THE COURSES, PENALTY SYSTEM, SUPPORT BOATS, BERTHING, HAUL-OUT RESTRICTIONS, DIVING EQUIPMENT AND PLASTIC POOLS, RADIO COMMUNICATION, AND INSURANCE.
   1. Each event’s NOR will define.
7. SCORING
   1. For the Results of the FINEST Offshore Series a High Point System will apply:
      1. Each boat will receive point(s) equal to the number of boats she beat, plus one point.
      2. The winner of each regatta will score one bonus point.
      3. Maximum of 14 boats are scored at each event.
      4. One ranking will be compiled, even if there are two (2) groups at an event.
      5. The end season series score will be the sum of all points from individual regattas with one exclusion (throw out).
8. PRIZES
   1. The first three (3) teams of the Series will be awarded with the trophies.
9. DISCLAIMER OF LIABILITY
   1. Competitors participate in the regatta entirely at their own risk. See rule 4, Decision to Race. The organizing authority will not accept any liability for material damage or personal injury or death sustained in conjunction with or prior to, during, or after the regatta.
